Powers Explanation
Amelia has the power of flight, and her wings are an obvious physical mutation, so it seems like it would be simple enough. On the other hand, her wings are only slightly larger than that of an average bald eagle-- a creature which weighs about fourteen pounds at the heaviest. And since Amelia weighs about 170 most days, there's obviously something going on there.
Amelia's actual power is the ability to alter the degree to which a person or object is affected by gravity (in this case, obviously, herself). By lowering her local gravity to roughly that of Pluto, she can make herself light enough that her wings are able to carry her as easily as a fourteen-pound eagle. This ability is so second-nature to her that she doesn't actually realize that it's happening.
With proper training and practice, theoretically her power would be able to extend to other objects, making them light and easy to carry (or, conversely, too heavy to lift). However, as it stands, since she isn't aware of this aspect of her power, she hasn't even begun to learn how to apply it outside of herself. This means both that her carrying capacity is incredibly restricted while in flight (anything heavier than four or five pounds will weigh her down too much to lift off), and that she is unaware of the potential combat applications of her ability.
